Below are examples of planting installations we have done. Each example shows a before photo, the design, and the final installation. Designs show what plantings will look like when they fully mature over time.
In Franklin, a homeowner faced the task of replacing overgrown burning bushes with a low-maintenance and aesthetically pleasing alternative. Additionally, the property grappled with a notable drainage concern around the bulkhead area. To address these challenges, we implemented a solution by designing a simple yet elegant planting scheme. Alongside this, we strategically installed French drains to mitigate the drainage issue, overlaying the affected area with crushed stone for enhanced functionality and visual appeal.
The client expressed a desire to incorporate existing perennials from their bed while introducing new plantings capable of thriving in shaded conditions. This posed a dual objective: to preserve the established aesthetic while diversifying the flora to accommodate the specific light requirements. By carefully selecting shade-tolerant perennials and seamlessly integrating them with the existing plantings, we achieved a harmonious blend of old and new, ensuring sustained beauty and vitality within the shaded environment.
At a property in Franklin, our client aimed to preserve select larger shrubs flanking their steps while seeking to alleviate crowding on either side. With precision, we relocated a sizable hydrangea from the front foundation to a new location on the property. Subsequently, we expanded the left mulch bed, extending it along the walkway's front. To enhance biodiversity and promote pollinator activity, we curated a selection of pollinator-friendly perennials, strategically planting varieties known to attract bees and butterflies, thereby enriching the landscape with vibrant ecological interactions.
The homeowner sought natural privacy screening around their patio area. To achieve this, we initiated the project by removing sizable Japanese Holly and trimming back sections of pachysandra. Expanding the mulch bed around the light pole provided ample space for enhancements. We strategically planted five Juniper shrubs with the intention of gradual growth and eventual coverage. To introduce color and texture, Stella d' Oro Daylilies and Walker's Low Catmint were added. Additionally, existing Hostas were repurposed, divided, and replanted along the mulch bed's perimeter, contributing to a balanced and visually appealing landscape design.
Responding to the client's aspiration for a pollinator-friendly garden, we embarked on transforming the space previously occupied by overgrown holly bushes into a haven for bees and butterflies. To create a natural privacy barrier around the air conditioner unit, we introduced Steeds Holly. Our planting strategy focused on diversity, incorporating a range of perennials known for their appeal to pollinators, including Black Eyed Susan, Butterfly Milkweed, Sedum, and Catmint. At the client's request, we integrated additional elements such as Spirea and Hydrangeas to enhance the garden's visual appeal and complement the overall design aesthetic. Through this thoughtful selection and arrangement of plants, we cultivated an inviting environment that not only provides privacy but also fosters biodiversity and ecological balance.
Facing a challenging landscape characterized by heavy shade and rocky terrain along the property line, this homeowner sought guidance for an effective solution. Our approach began with redefining the contours of the hill to establish a clear and defined mulch bed. Subsequently, we curated a selection of shade-tolerant plants suited to the site's conditions. Among these were various species of Hosta, Bleeding Hearts, and Heuchera, chosen for their ability to thrive in low-light environments. By integrating these resilient plantings, we not only addressed the homeowner's concerns but also revitalized the area with a diverse and visually engaging landscape design.
At a property in Franklin, the homeowner enlisted our services to address the issue of overgrown perennials that had encroached upon the bed. In response, we proposed a new planting scheme designed for containment and ease of maintenance. Following approval, we proceeded by removing the unruly perennials and introducing a selection of plants known for their restrained growth habits. To enhance the aesthetic appeal and delineate the boundaries of the bed, we meticulously re-edged the perimeter before applying a fresh layer of crushed stone as a finishing touch. This comprehensive approach not only resolved the immediate issue but also rejuvenated the bed with a more manageable and visually pleasing landscape design.
The client expressed a preference for meticulously manicured beds and shrubs, desiring a sense of symmetry and orderliness within the landscape. Dissatisfied with the chaotic appearance of two specific beds lacking symmetry, we undertook a transformational approach. Through the strategic transplantation of existing plants within these beds and from other areas of the property, we curated a more cohesive and symmetrical planting scheme. This process not only infused the beds with a newfound sense of harmony but also aligned with the client's vision for a pristine and well-maintained landscape aesthetic.
